Cadent Gas chatted to Riverside College, who asked:
heeeeeellllloooo
where is the company based fella?
Do you offer work experience?
what kind of jobs will the apprentice be given?
How many engineers are currently working at you company.
What kind of jobs do you get to do?
hello, I was wondering if you have any apprenticeships available at this time and what qualifications that you would require at a minimum to get onto one of your apprenticeships.
We offer 2 government apprenticeships (Gas Network Team Leader and Gas Network Craftsperson). You can search the government website for those.
Within those you can do different pathways which relate to our roles - either emergency (responding to gas escapes), or pressure control (operating the gas network), electrical and instrumentation (managing the electrical kit to tell us how the network is performing). The gas network team leader is our repair area - fixing the pipes in the ground.
So in terms of quals, we are looking for 3 GCSE's grade A*-C or 4-9 for our Repair Engineer apprenticeship and 5 for our Emergency Gas Engineer apprenticeship. We also ask that this includes English & Maths.
Hi Jack, we currently have apprenticeships live for applications in Emergency Response and Repair support. The way to apply for these are through our Apprenticeship Careers Website on [link removed]
What qualification would I receive at the end of the apprenticeship? would you enroll an apprentice?
How long are the apprenticeships?
where is the company based ...
The company is based diagonally across the country from the North West down to London - so we operate in your area. We have a fantastic training centre in Hollinwood in Manchester.
There will be some travel needed to and from our training centres throughout the course of your program. All is funded and we also pay for your hotel and food!
How long does the program last?
Do you offer work experience?
As we are a new start up company (despite having a 200 year history) we haven't established our work experience profile yet unfortunately.
So our apprenticeships depending on the route you go down range from 2 to 4 years. More info can be found on our careers page from the link in an earlier post.
How many engineers are currently working at you company.
There are 4500 employees, and a large majority of those are engineers. Engineers out in the field there are about 3000.
Are there an y [link removed] related posts in your company.
Upon completion of our apprenticeship, you will be a qualified Gas Engineer. Depending on the apprenticeship programme you choose, you will either be working Emergency Response where you would be a first responder to gas escapes across our [link removed] Support Engineer which involves working outdoors on Gas mains, working alongside the public to keep the nation safe or within Operate and Maintain which involves ensuring our network is well maintained,
