Compete: Young Fashion Designer Awards

 

If you’re an aspiring fashion designer, you’ve probably been told just how hard it can be to get into the fashion industry. There are plenty of courses to get you started but if you already have some skills, one of the best ways to get your work recognised is through competitions. Luckily for you, we’ve rounded up some fashion competitions that cater specifically to young people. So, get your scissors and sewing machines out - and getting crafting!

St Albans Young Designer of the Year - This is a new award that forms part of the town of St Albans’ annual Fashion Week. The competition is open to anyone under the age of 18 who lives in or around Hertfordshire. Winners will receive £500 and one-on-one business training with local experts to help kickstart their careers.

FDC Young Designer Awards - Created by fashion designer Joanna Marcella, these awards are open to anyone aged 9 - 25 nationwide. Winners will have the chance to see their work showcased overseas at Vancouver Fashion Week! 

YFD UK - Young Fashion Designer UK is open to all GCSE and A-Level students studying textiles design and fashion. Finalists will get to exhibit their work and participate in workshops lead by industry professionals. Winners will receive trophies and cash prizes.
