Employers and Universities: Work with us?

Success at School turns two

This weekend, Success at School is celebrating its second birthday – that’s two years of helping young people to choose their career paths.

In that time, we’ve gone from working with just two schools to more than 500, and we now reach more than 30,000 young people every month.

To celebrate this milestone, we’ve put together a little timeline of our history and our exciting plans for the future.

If you’d like to know more about how we can help you to deliver top-notch careers advice, please get in touch today

October 2013 – humble beginnings

Success at School was created by Mitesh Bhimjiyani, a former investment banker who, in his 30s, found himself in need of some inspiration.

He wanted to ensure that young people have access to advice that would lead to more informed decisions about their future. Stuff he didn’t have!

After holding focus groups with current school students, he realised that not much had changed in the last 20 years and decided to do something about it.

August 2014 – Department for Education praises Success at School

We were over the moon to get the chance to meet with the Department for Education and show them our site.

They were so impressed that afterwards they wrote us a letter of support, calling our resource “informative” and “valuable”.

The DfE said it was clear that we support the aims set out in their statutory guidance to schools, and they particularly praised the ability of schools to personalise the site, upload student users securely and add bespoke content.

December 2014 – partnership with Adviza

Success at School teams up with careers advice charity Adviza to provide students with one-to-one advice via our forums.

Students at registered schools can ask questions and get impartial advice from a qualified careers adviser, about anything from what GCSEs to choose to higher education and apprenticeship options.

May 2015 – our careers posters are an instant hit

We were really excited when we unveiled our new posters linking academic subjects to careers in collaboration with the National Careers Service, and we were completely bowled over by the response!

The posters flew off the shelves, and we have sold over 3,500 nationally – now one in 20 schools and colleges in the UK is using them.

To celebrate our birthday we’re offering 20% off the posters during October. Visit our shop, choose your posters and enter the discount code ANNIVERSARY20 in the special instructions box when you view your cart.

October 2015 – today

We now reach more than 500 schools and 30,000 people every month. We have a team of five people, who are all dedicated to delivering the best information and advice to teachers, parents and young people.

Coming soon!

We’re working on a series of lesson plans for each secondary year group to help you bring appropriate and relevant careers advice directly into the classroom.

The plans are designed to help pupils reflect on what careers interest them, make links between school subjects and careers, understand how to research career paths and learn more about what different careers involve.
