The Details
During the programme you’ll have three paid work placements with us. In each university’s academic year one term will be on placement, so you’ll still have the summer off to enjoy. The programme will put you on track to becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and you’ll complete 80% of your ICAEW exams on the degree, and will be just over a year away from the full qualification once you graduate.

- This programme is a collaboration between Queen Mary University of London, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and 'Big Four' accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
- A series of paid work placements is built into the course, meaning you will have the opportunity to apply the technical theory you learn in the classroom directly to the workplace.
- Learn accounting skills from academic specialists who are experts in their field.
- Work on real projects for real clients as part of PwC's assurance team, and receive technical training during your paid placements.
Professional recognition
This degree was designed with, and is professionally accredited by, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Successful graduates of this degree will have completed 12 of the 15 modules of the ICAEW Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification.

PwC's Flying Start Financial Bursary
If you believe you’re eligible for the financial bursary and you apply for one of the applicable Accounting Flying Start programmes then we’ll be in touch with you during the application process to outline the next steps. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your confidence, your skills for the future, and your experience of work and university, all while being supported financially.
The criteria for the bursary is set out below which you can review to determine your own eligibility. You need to meet all five of the points as follows:
- Have ‘Home Funding’ status, which means you’re living in the UK or Republic of Ireland, and EU nationals with settled status in the UK.
- Have applied to study on the Accounting Flying Start degree Programme (and subsequently successfully start on the programme in September 2025).
- Have a household income of <£35,000 per annum as assessed by Student Finance (this will be assessed once you are accepted onto the degree programme and apply to Student Finance).
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment to a career in Audit at PwC during the assessment process.
- Have attended a non-fee paying school (unless you received a bursary or scholarship to attend in which case we’ll review on a case-by-case basis).
How to apply
You apply for the Flying Start degree via UCAS. You can apply for multiple Flying Start programmes but each application to each university will count as one of your UCAS options.
