What job areas can I go into?

Combat

You could be an infantry soldier, paratrooper or gunner, in missions at home and abroad.

Communications and intelligence

Engineering

5 fun facts you didn’t know

Tanks were crucial to the outcome of WW1

The British first used tanks – or ‘landships’ – at the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The Germans had developed a similar vehicle but only produced 20 models – making them decisive in the outcome of the war.

The Army is 300 years old!

The British Army was founded in 1707 when the Act of Union was signed into law by England and Scotland.

The Army has 41 apprenticeship programmes!

It’s the country’s biggest apprenticeships provider. There aren’t many jobs you can’t do in the Army – and you can train for most of them with an apprenticeship.

The RAF is the world’s second-oldest air force

It was founded in 1918, making it over 100 years olds! Only Finland had an airforce before us.

Women have served in every role since 2018

All combat roles were opened up to women across the armed forces in 2016 – and the last few non-combat roles opened up in 2018.
