Transport is all about keeping people and goods moving across the UK and beyond. It’s what makes sure shops are stocked, buses get us to school and planes take us on holiday.

And how about logistics?

Logistics means managing how goods are stored and moved, from factories to your doorstep. It’s all about making sure supply chains work and warehouses stay organised.

What jobs can I do?

Air traffic controller

You’ll guide planes through busy skies and help them land safely. High-stakes, high-reward.

Bus/coach driver

Drive buses or coaches to keep passengers moving around cities and towns every day.

Delivery driver

Drive vans, cars, or even bikes to deliver goods all over the UK – or just around your local area.

Mechanic

Fix and maintain vehicles like cars, trains or even planes. If it moves, it needs a mechanic!

Pilot

Fly planes, whether it’s for airlines, passengers or the military. You’ll need a lot of training – but the sky's the limit.

Removals specialist

Help people pack up and move to new homes or businesses, making sure their stuff gets there safely.

Supply chain manager

You’ll organise how goods move from point A to B, making everything run smoothly and on time.

Train driver

Drive passenger or freight trains and keep them running safely on the rails.

Transport planner

Plan out roads, railways, or bike lanes to keep cities moving. It’s all about problem-solving.

Warehouse operative

You’ll manage stock in warehouses, making sure everything’s in its place and ready to go.

How can I start a career in transport and logistics?

🛠️ What apprenticeships can I do?

You could become a train driver (level 3), air traffic controller (level 5), or aviation flight operations coordinator (level 3). Or aim for higher-level roles like supply chain leadership professional (level 6).

🎓 Is uni an option?

Yep, you can study logistics, supply chain management, or engineering at uni. Degrees and HNDs are great if you want to start out at a higher level.

Get hands-on experience with internships or apprenticeships, stay on top of industry trends and build your communication and leadership skills.

What qualifications can I get through a transport and logistics apprenticeship?

You can earn NVQs, diplomas, or BTECs in areas like driving, mechanics, warehousing and supply chain management. It’s all about learning on the job.
