Bournemouth University (BU) is located on the stunning south coast of England, with two vibrant campuses: Talbot and Lansdowne. Talbot Campus is home to most of our courses and student services like SUBU (Students’ Union) and the medical centre, while Lansdowne houses our Health & Social Care courses within the Bournemouth Gateway Building and postgraduate Business & Management courses at the Executive Business Centre.

We are ranked in the Top 3 Young UK universities in the 2024 THE Young University rankings.

Student Life

BU’s Students’ Union (SUBU) offers over 75 clubs & societies, from sports to creative outlets like the Film Society. If you can’t find one you like, you can create your own with just four friends!

SportBU operates varsity and campus teams, and we have two facilities: Talbot Campus and Chapel Gate; where football, rugby, and more take place. There's something for every sports enthusiast.

Life in Bournemouth

Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole offer the perfect blend of coastal, urban, and rural life. The area is well connected, with direct train links to London and a variety of bus routes. Here's my personal take:

Accommodation

BU offers a range of accommodation options, with most rooms being ensuite and located close to campus, public transport, and essential amenities. Halls range from 3-bed to 9-bed flats. I stayed at Dorchester House and made lifelong friends!

Apprenticeships

BU offers fantastic apprenticeships in health, engineering, and business, with flexible part-time study options. Higher-level degree apprenticeships typically take 3-5 years and lead to an End Point Assessment. These courses are a great way to develop your skills while working.
