From your experience, what do you think made your application stand out when you applied for the apprenticeship, and is there anything you wish you’d known before starting?

Hi nnunnaaa, Thank you for your question. I believe what made me stand out was how I explained how my interest and experience could work well within the role I am interested in. For example I mentioned I did volunteer work and how the teamwork and organisation skills I have can be useful and can be developed during my apprenticeship. I also mentioned company projects I found interesting as well as mentioning engineering work experience I had done and explained my knowledge gained from my internship. If you can attend webinars and events or do work experience related to the industry to want to apply to. Also mentions the company’s recent work. This shows the company that you are passionate and therefore helps you stand out. Hope this helps,Abi

Hi nnunnaaa,What I think made me stand out was my passion and interest for engineering. I showed them how passionate I was about the role and why I deserved to work in the engineering industry. I was also able to demonstrate through my past experiences whether it was work or extra curricular activities at school that I had the required skills to work as an engineer such as communication, team work, leadership, problem solving, organisation and creativity etc. I was also able to work really well with the different candidates in the assessment centre as well as tackle the various tasks in a structured and professional manner. But most importantly, I was being myself. A lot of candidates don't realise that companies don't want a finished product; they want someone who they can work with as well as someone who has a great personality, not just a good work [link removed] best thing you can do is show your passion for the company, the apprenticeship and engineering in general.
