For NCW and NAW at The Ruth Gorse Academy this year, we decided to try and make the week a little more structured, with form time activities and assemblies for different year groups each day of the week, a whole-school competition, door signs for all staff and culminating with our whole-school careers fair on Friday 9th March. The general structure for the week looked like this:

Monday:
- Y7 Assembly on 100-Year-Life and how you choose to use your time
- Form time activities on the 'Drawing the Future' report from Education and Employers (leading in to whole-school competition)
- Bespoke IAG interviews and workshop for 10 SEND students in Y10 (courtesy of Aspire-igen)

Tuesday:
- Y8 Assembly from Dean Royles of Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust on careers in the NHS
- Form time activities on jobs and salaries (a 'Play Your Cards Right' type game)

Wednesday:
- Y9 Assembly from Dean Royles of Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust regarding careers in the NHS
- Form time activity on the Year of Engineering

Thursday:
- Y10 Assembly on National Apprenticeship Week from ASK/Plexus Law
- Form time activities on National Apprenticeship Week (using Live Learn broadcasts)

Friday:
- Whole-school careers fair throughout the day - employers decided on winner of 'Drawing the Future' competition

Both the Computer Science team at Leeds City College and the Medical Engineering team from Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust brought a range of equipment with them to the careers fair, such as a programmable robot, 3D printer and heart monitor, all of which really engaged the students, but special mention should also go to Curtins, First Direct, the Leeds United Foundation and Sky, who received great feedback from the students regarding how informative and friendly they were.

One area we might look to change in future NCW/NAW planning is holding our careers fair in the late-afternoon/evening, so that parents and carers also have the opportunity to meet employers and training providers.
