Role & Career Journey

1. What’s the #1 thing you enjoy most about your role?

Seeing the real impact of the work — whether that’s launching new initiatives like the Apprenticeship Network, refining the levy strategy, or improving how opportunities are communicated — and knowing it directly supports young people at the start of their careers.

2. What was the biggest challenge when starting your career?

Navigating the variety of options available and understanding how different roles and pathways connect long term. It can be difficult to see the bigger picture when you’re just starting out.

3. How did you get into your current role?

My path developed through a growing interest in early careers, talent, and creating meaningful development opportunities. Over time, I became more involved in strategy, communications, and engagement activity, which naturally led me into a role focused on strengthening and promoting the Early Careers offer.

4. What made you want to support apprentices and graduates?

Early career experiences can shape someone’s confidence, ambition, and long-term direction. Being able to influence that positively — and ensure opportunities are accessible, high quality, and aligned to the external landscape — is incredibly motivating.

5. What’s your go-to office lunch?

A quick, easy option that fits around a busy day — usually something I can prep in advance or grab between meetings.

6. What’s one thing you wish you knew at 17?

That careers aren’t linear. You don’t need to have everything figured out early on — staying curious, building transferable skills, and being open to new opportunities can take you further than a perfectly mapped-out plan.
