How to best prepare for interviews and assessment centres?

Watch Topic

Hi, I've got a few assessment centres coming up and I just wanted to know how to beat prepare for them. How much research do you think I should do and talk about in my interviews? And do you have any tips that will help to make sure I have a high chance of getting to the next stages?

Thanks

Congrats on making it to the assessment centre stage! These are some tips I used and would advice on when you have interviews·       Do your research!! This is so important and it becomes very obvious to hiring manager who has and hasn’t. You’ll want to understand the company's values, culture, products, and recent projects. This helps you tailor your answers to show you're a good fit for their environment. An example I used was that one of my companies pillars was growth mindset and I gave an example of my skills and incorporated the values and also used the star method to highlight that I had this value too. You can also speak about any hot topics or projects the company has recently been involved in (AI, Data etc)·       Use the STAR method. It’s a good structure to follow when answering questions and one that interviewers look out for·       Research the role you’re applying for. Understand what skills you need and will develop   Even if you don’t know every technical detail, show enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Companies often appreciate candidates who are eager to grow rather than a know it all.·       Whilst it is an interview/assessment centre don’t treat it like a robotic Q&A. connect with the hiring manager and connect with them personally. Include your hobbies personal facts etc that the hiring manager can relate to when you are introducing yourself.·       SOME (not all) technical assessments can include a practical tasks so brush up on relevant skills There might also be group tasks, so focus on teamwork and communication. Be a good team player and showcase all your good skills and be honest if you don't know something; show your thought process. Problem-solving is more about how you approach the challenge than just getting the answer.·       Always have a few thoughtful questions to ask the interviewer. This shows your genuine interest in the role and the [link removed] Luck!!!
