M&G runs a work experience programme through the charity Speakers4Schools for year 10 students. We believe it's important at this age before they get any misconceptions of particular industries, for them to experience an office environment and give them aspirations for the future!

Hi there, Whilst PwC don't generally run work experience for this age group, I do think it's important. We're spoken to lots of students who are already considering their career at this early stage. I don't think the work experience necessarily needs to be relevant, as employers will always want to provide their own training. We always tell students they don't need to have experience of our roles to apply. However, I do think work experience is great for developing the kind of transferable skills employers are looking for. The skills we look for include communication skills, teamworking, the ability to manage a task/project, commercial awareness & leadership, which can be picked up in a range of different working environments. Work experience is particularly good for developing communication skills as it encourages students to interact with lots of different types of people & build new relationships as well as getting them to solve problems independently!

We think that work experience is incredibly important in being able to understand what you may or may not like regarding jobs when you grow up. Whilst your interests may change it is a great way to gain experience in a large well regarded company and looks amazing on your CV!

Siemens offers competitive summer work experience placements designed to challenge students and provide them with an exclusive insight into the workings of a global organization.

If a student has taken the time to take on work experience it makes them really stand out to us as a company as taking the time to get stuck in and involved in their potential interests.
