What do you look for in an employer?

Watch Topic

At Severn Trent we take upto 80 apprentices a year into the water utilities sector across the East & West Midlands and North Wales.

We believe we offer a great experience to our apprentices and offer lots of support.

However I'd be keen to see from careers advisors and potential apprentices, what do you look for in an employer? and what would be the key thing any of us as employers could do to encourage you apply for an engneering apprenticeship?

Hi this is really useful to know. We are trying to encourage Year 9/10 to look at careers already because once they get to the age where they are deciding there are so many organisations that have opportunities, it's a lot for them to get through. That's why site like this one are so useful.

As a careers person any support that allows us to help young people understand your industry more, experience your industry and then understand you as an employer would be great.
