Importance of English & Maths GCSE qualifications

Hi,

I was wondering if any Universities could highlight the importance of gaining Maths and English GCSE qualifications (this is for those who may need to resit again at their Sixth Form College).

At Sheffield Hallam University, the typical entry requirement for all our Undergraduate degree courses is a minimum of GCSE A-C Maths & English or grade 4. However, for a number of courses we can consider equivalencies. This would be on a course by course basis.
