What sort of skills/courses/experience do you look for when looking at applications?

Different courses require different qualifications. Doing engineering will have different requirements to project management for example. There should be requirements for each course listed by the application website or the Careers [link removed] there are many skills that are important for all courses when doing an apprenticeship. Some of the most important are adaptability, motivation to learn and curiosity. Being an apprentice means you have to be able to handle change as you change placement or managers or switch for time at work to study time. You have to challenge yourself to find opportunities to learn and make the most out of the recourses you have access to. And you've got to ask questions to the experienced people around [link removed] experience is good experience if you've learnt something and can talk about it. Some common interview questions are about a time where you've worked as a team, an example of a challenge you faced and how you dealt with it or describe a time you received constructive criticism and what did you do to take that on. Its helpful if these examples are related to the role you want to do but not necessary. Another thing that stands out is when you've shown a clear interest in your subjects outside of school. Have you done an online workshop, are you involved in tutoring? Have you learned about a software or a specific tool that's common in your industry?
