I’m hoping to complete an apprenticeship in law, however I am not very well informed on the financial side of things.
In terms of financial responsibilities outside of work, I think that very much depends on whether or not you stay at home or whether you move for the apprenticeship. Not to speak for everyone, but I know that when I first started my apprenticeship, a lot of the apprentices that I spoke [link removed] at home, which obviously there's a lot less financial responsibility there. You're earning a salary, which is quite nice. So you don't really have much financial responsibility. If you are moving, it's all the normal things that you would expect. It's deposits on a flat, it's finding flatmates, rent, bills, food, all those sorts of things. A lot of companies, especially in sort of like bigger private practices, will offer you some sort of stipend just to help you get started, like before your your paychecks have been rolling in regularly, just to help you get set up and established. Those don't always cover in time for a deposit on a flat, but those sort of things are in place to help you. Financial responsibilities at work if there is anything that comes with that, whether it's you know, clients or any sort of financial litigation you might be involved in that is introduced to you very slowly or it'll be part of all of your training modules when you first join a firm.
