With the somewhat recent changes regarding apprenticeships, what has changed within your company regarding how students go about completing their course?
Mr. George
Hello MrGeorge, great question and employers will be able to offer specific insight into this within their own organisations. We put together this article about the changes and how the will affect future apprentices more broadly: https://successatschool.org/advicedetails/784/apprenticeship-standards We even included a handy infographic!
A lot of the recent changes have not yet been delivered within the Marine Industry as the Apprenticeship Standards are not due to start until this September. However, apprentices will still be required to go to college or a training provider for off the job training and skills, but the employers will have more say in how and where that is done. One of the big differences is that all Apprentices will have to complete an End Point Assessment to complete their Apprenticeship and this will be assessed by an independent organisation.

Here's an explanation of what the new apprenticeship standards are:

Hi,
Our apprenticeships are already approved on the new trailblazer standards - Gas Network Craftsperson (L3) and Gas Network Team Leader (L2). Check the government website out and search for those standards. We have been heavily involved in developing these standards and progressing our apprenticeships.
We are also looking at alternative apprenticeships in addition to our technical apprentices and looking at the delivery for these new standards - [link removed] could our learners learn the theory in a more practical manner at our training centres, rather than at college - or is there a case of best of both worlds.
There are lots of options to explore!
