Employer Engagement

Hi 

I am the CEIAG Advisor & Work Experience Coordinator at Sacred Heart Academy and feel it is vital to offer as much employer engagement as possible for my students. I understand that employers are very busy people and school timetables can be sometimes a little difficult to work around but can I ask....What level of engagement do employers feel it is appropriate to be asked for? 

I have employers who come in and provide workshop style sessions on a carousel basis, so see a full year group over the course of a morning. I have asked for lunchtime careers drop in sessions as well as attendance at Careers Conventions and mock interview days. Some companies are very willing to help others not so much. I find that a lot of the time Employers are worried about the length of time they will be needed.
