In your opinion, what do you think separated you from the numerous other candidates when you obtained an offer for on apprenticeship? What could a student in Year 12 do to make themselves stand out when applying for apprenticeships in the future?

Hi,Thank you for your question. What separated me from other candidates was my passion, curiosity, experience, skill and desire to work in the industry and company. As a year 12 student, I would recommend you sign up to as many extra curricular opportunities that may be relevant to the industry you would like to work in; therefore, you can build experience and skills. If the extra curricular opportunities do not exist, take initiative and create your own projects- it shows leadership. In addition, if you can secure work experience, it would help you as well. If you cannot find relevant work experience, but can still find work experience, that is still fine because you can talk about the different skills you attained. What companies want is someone who is simply passionate about their company and the industry as well as someone who has taken the time to develop their workplace skills so that they could become suitable for an apprenticeship. Work heavily on skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, collaboration, conflict resolution, organisation, project management, dealing with failures etc. If you have a separate example for each skill I named, then you should be in a very good place. Another thing I would suggest is doing a lot of research into all of the apprenticeships and companies beforehand so you are aware of everything you need to [link removed] hope this was useful and I am more than happy to respond to any further questions you may [link removed]
