The Government is pushing for all 16 -19 learners to have work experience as part of their Programme of Study. The new technical qualifications introduced by BTEC require both work experience and employer involvement in the delivery of the course.
For some colleges this could mean that approx 2500 work experience places are needed alongside employers delivering part of the course and helping with assessment of learners' work.
From an employers' perspective has the Government highlighted how you can help? If yes how would you suggest colleges contact you and interact to establish links and mutual engagement?
Do you think that the benefit for yourselves warrants the commitment of your employees?
We haven't had any contact from the government in terms of explicitly stating how we can help. However, BLP (as do lots of employers) have a work experience programme which any year 12 student is welcome to apply for. You can find details on the "opportunities" section of our website.
For students interested in a career in law, we recommend websites such as All About Law or All About Careers, which list many different work experience opportunities.
