Does it feel like you are missing out on University life?
Hi Samira,For me, there are several perks of apprenticeships over university, for example the fact I'm able to earn a salary whilst being in zero debt from tuition fees mean that I'm able to live a comfortable lifestyle for a young adult, compared to my university friends, for [link removed], depending on your company and industry, you may be able to attend conferences for free. In science, there's quite a lot per year, so some of my best experiences have been attending these conferences, and even being invited to speak at them! It's really a daunting opportunity but it's one that I don't regret, as it taught me so much and helped me grow into my role and [link removed] originally did a degree apprenticeship because I knew I wanted to study at undergraduate level but I was not looking forward to doing it at university, simply because the lifestyle of a uni student didn't interest me. Therefore it was a no brainer to pursue an apprenticeship [link removed], I can't answer the question of comparing to uni because I've never been to traditional university! Sorry :) But from what I know about uni life, I don't feel that I'm missing out on anything, and in fact I think that I'm gaining experiences and qualifications that some uni students aren't able to get. It's all relative though, and based on your context. Neither option is "better". If you're still interested about the uni life side of things, you can go to the "The Student Room" website and hear from current and past university students to hear their experiences. Both routes are good for different people - one is not better than the [link removed] that helps.
