I am someone with very little work experience, what else can I do to stand out to have a better chance at getting accepted?
This applies for both uni and apprenticeship as I am still deciding.
Hi E,If you don’t have much XP, there are still plenty of ways to stand out. You can highlight things like volunteering, extracurricular activities, personal projects, or even responsibilities at home that show transferable skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and communication. Just ensure you show genuine enthusiasm for the subject or role. Examples could be: reading around the field, attending events, or taking online [link removed] and apprenticeship providers both look for motivation, initiative, and potential, not just experience, so focus on proving your commitment and willingness to learn to strengthen your application. Also i have answered similar questions in the past, so please feel free to get some inspiration from your peers' questions or my responses there 😊
Hi,As someone who did not have a lot of work experience in Yr13. The first thing I would say is apply to go to events hosted for young individuals wanting to break into the working world and events focused on university. This will help you understand and lint more of a picture of where you see yourself going and wanting to do as the next step. mainly because you will always learn something new at these type of events whether it’s through key speakers or speaking to people who are in the same shoes as [link removed] it would be best to apply to any summer internships that you can do, try to match it as closely as you can to where you envision your career however, you do learn a lot of different skills anywhere you [link removed] can also highlight any skills you do have already as companies know you may not have a lot of experience as you are a school leaver. This can be clubs you joined, any part time jobs you’ve had, anything you’ve done to help in school and outside, what makes you, [link removed] CV is a great way to get your skills and experience across but also a great tooL in showing you as a person and your character.
Hiya,I'll keep this short and [link removed] is experience in loads of things - not just in corporate spaces. Volunteering at school club, being part of a sports team etc. All of these other things require transferrable skills that will equip you for what employers look for, or what university admissions look for. Don't stress with not having loads of work experience, use what you do have and tailor it to where you want to be!
