Hi Max,Thank you for your question! If your question is how long it takes to become an engineer then it varies on what you want to do. There are many pathways. For example, if you take a level 3 apprenticeship after GCSEs when you are 16 years old, you could be a qualified engineer in 2-4 years. If you go to sixth form and then do a degree apprenticeship, it can take 3 to 5 years after the age of 18. If you take the university route after sixth form, your degree would take 3-5 years and then your graduate scheme at the company you work at may take 1 to 2 years. It completely depends on the pathway you [link removed] hope this was useful and I am more than happy to answer any more questions to clarify anything I have said. Thank [link removed]

Hi Max,The step after what Ishraq has explained is to become [link removed];This can take different amounts of time based on the routes [link removed];The standard route is to first complete an accredited masters degree (4 years full time) or this can be done through various companies as an apprenticeship ( 5+ years part time uni). Or through completing a bachelors degree either at university full time or through a degree [link removed];Note: If your degree is not accredited or from outside the UK, you may need to have it individually [link removed];this, by working in an engineering role with increasing responsibility you will gain experience to demonstrate competence in the UK-SPEC areas on the job:Knowledge and understandingDesign and developmentResponsibility, leadership, and managementCommunication and interpersonal skillsProfessional commitmentAfter evidencing all these competencies and their sub sections you can apply for professional review and registration, taking about 6-12 [link removed];You will submit evidence of your competence and attend an interview. And if accepted, you will become charter with your relevant institutional body, eg. IET, ICE, [link removed];The advantage of completing a degree apprenticeship is being able to begin to evidence competencies much earlier than if completing a full time degree before entering the [link removed];The overall time taken to become chartered from beginning higher education can be about 8-12 years. Howeve, this is very dependent on the route [link removed];Hope this helps!Read more about it here, [link removed]
