I study Business, Economics and Maths and I’m not sure which sector I should focus on gaining work experience in to develop my skills to become a data analyst.

Hi Esthero,Good question! So the short answer is Finance Sector if you want something based on your A-Levels, but if you don't know what Sector then just choose based on your interest ([link removed] interested in saving lives then get XP as a Data Analyst in the Health Care Sector)Long answer: Based on you taking Economics, I'd assume you want to work in finance, so prioritise the Banking/Finance Sector. Gain XP in a role/internship/experience week/personal project - which requires you to make some analysis/data-based decision in a financial setting, usually using standard data analyst tools (Powerpoint, Tableau, Power BI, Excel, Python/R, SQL, or other), then of course communicate/present these solutions in a clear way by tailoring to your audience, [link removed] don't use technical terms if you're speaking to professionals who aren't familiar with economics/financial/mathematical concepts, they may just be interested in your [link removed] I've misunderstood your question and you're asking - out of Business, Econ, Maths, which subject you should focus on. Then again depends what your strength is and the sector you want to work in. [link removed] if you want to analyse business decision making generally, then probably prioritise Business, if you want to work in government spending then Economics is probably best, and if you want to work in banking maybe Maths (or all 3).Generally speaking, being a data analyst is about spotting patterns in data, making decisions based on those patterns, and communicating/presenting this to stakeholders. Where you do this and what type of data you do this on, only matters to you. So if you're still not sure, then do some research and gain the general skillset of a data analyst, and give yourself time to figure out which sector you want to work in specifically, because context always changes depending on the situation. [link removed] if you have the skill to use Machine Learning (ML) to find trends in data, well if you're working in Finance at JP Morgan or in Marketing at Spotify, the ML algorithm doesn't change, only the context changes, the underlying data won't really matter if you know how to spot the [link removed] that helped! I may have been confused, so apologies for different answers😂
