This is a good question. I'll answer it generally, as my company isn't really focused on selling or providing services to the masses😅I feel software engineering if used correctly will benefit the world by speeding up our development & potentially making life more fair & safer. For example; automating jobs will allow a lot of tasks to go from months/days to hours/seconds/minutes, potentially with ML/AI analysis of data can be streamlined so humans can digest data and make decisions faster, with decentralised technology like blockchain and the fact that a lot of things now are electronically record - means things like fraud or crime can be more easily detected and combated if data is fairly accessed, automation & standardisation of transport ([link removed] automated driving) can mean less crashes and more sustainable fossil fuel consumption globally, and can provide more opportunities, [link removed] people in less developed countries can access education and connections more easily via software based products YouTube, online platforms etc. or we can now build our own online businesses/projects/applications from our bedrooms, meaning barrier to higher income or opportunities is more accessible.

I feel software engineering can massively speed up our development as humans, and make the world safer & [link removed] example: Automation of time consuming/manual tasks & complex computations to solve problems faster, more integration of electrical/transparent records like decentralised ledger technology gives better traceability of finances/legal documents which can combat fraud/scams/crime, standardised control & automation of transport/mech systems can lead to less working accidents/crashes, and enables more opportunities by connecting people across the world - people in less developed countries can work online, or try to start an online business/saas, or stream - all opportunities created by a range of people, but brought to reality by software, hardware & network engineers

By solving the problems we as a society face, every problem has a solution, maybe many. By finding and solving the endless flow of problems and challenges, everyday some aspect of someone's life gets easier. Some problems our ancestors faced, we don't even recognise because technology has already fixed it, so we grew up not evening knowing they existed.
