It’s all about building stuff – homes, offices, roads, and bridges. It includes everything from getting materials to installing essentials like water, electricity and wifi.

Property is all about buying, selling and managing buildings. It’s the side of things where you’re helping people find their dream home or helping companies find the perfect office space.

What jobs can I do?

Architect

They design buildings and make sure projects run smoothly, from first sketches to final brick.

Construction manager

They run the show on a building site, making sure everything goes safely and smoothly.

Engineer

They pick materials and design structures to make sure everything is sturdy and safe.

Estate agent

They help get properties sold or rented out, showing them off and negotiating deals.

Surveyor

They evaluate land and buildings to determine their value and safety.

Town planner

They design urban spaces, planning where homes, shops, and public transport should go.

Tradesperson

They specialise in hands-on skills like carpentry, plumbing, and bricklaying, turning blueprints into reality.

What are the top skills?

It’s key for designing cool spaces and coming up with solutions when things don’t go to plan.

You’ll work with lots of different people, so good communication makes everything go smoother.

How can I start a career in Construction & Property?

🛠️ What apprenticeships can I do?

Apprenticeships cover loads of levels, from learning trades like bricklaying or plumbing (level 2) to advanced roles like construction supervisor (level 3). With a higher or degree apprenticeship, you can even earn a degree while working in roles like site manager or surveyor (levels 6-7).

🎓 Is uni an option?

Yes! Check out degrees in architecture, civil engineering, or surveying.

👷🏽‍♀️ Are professional qualifications and certifications available?

Architects can become Chartered Architects with RIBA, surveyors can join RICS for chartered status, and town planners can earn RTPI membership. Tradespeople can earn NVQs, while estate agents can gain certifications through the National Federation of Property Professionals.
