Can you see yourself working at the heart of a global business? Our Nuclear Business Degree Apprenticeship will develop your skills and knowledge so that you’ll be able to manage the projects, plans, components, contracts and supplier relationships that are vital to the successful delivery of our programmes in our Defence Submarines business. At the same time, you’ll help keep the UK safe – for over 60 years we have provided the power for the UK Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet. In fact, we’re leading a revolution in nuclear power that is already seeing us develop this technology for many other uses – from unmanned underwater vehicles, microreactors and synthetic fuel, to even exploring space. All while reducing harm to our own planet. It’s an amazing time to join us.
What will I do?
You will spend four years with our expert teams working on real projects supporting the Royal Navy. In the process you’ll get to experience the full breadth of our Nuclear Defence business, taking on a variety of placements across different areas which could include finance, commercial, project management, procurement and planning. At the same time as developing practical knowledge you simply can’t learn in a classroom, you’ll also study for your BA in Business Management at our brand new Nuclear Skills Academy. Combined, these experiences will equip you for a business role with a huge breadth of opportunities when you complete your apprenticeship
What you'll need
5 GCSEs at grade 4/C which must include Maths and English Language plus 3 other subjects. 3 A-levels at grade C in numerical or business related subject, excluding General studies, or a Level 3 Extended BTEC at DDM (equating to minimum 96 UCAS points) in numerical or business-related subjects.
Alongside that, we’re looking for people who are keen to learn about what makes a business operate successfully. We need logical and analytical thinkers who can solve problems with a common-sense approach and work well in a team.
Due to the nature of our work in Defence, we’re unable to employ anyone who doesn’t have the legal right to live and work in the UK and if you have spent more than three months outside of the UK in the last five years (e.g. travelling, working, living), we might not be able to employ you. This role is subject to Full UK Security Check Clearance issued by the United Kingdom Security Vetting. To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
