In their Q&A, Humber UTC chatted with merchant-navy information organisation Careers at Sea. They covered:
What is the salary like?
What does the average day consist of for a engineer?
When the training, a cadet may get around £10,000 a year, but all course fees are paid for and your time on ship is paid for too. that money is yours. When you qualify as an officer, a starting salary may be around £26,000 and depending on the company, and voyage route, may be tax free.
Thanks for letting us know. One of our teachers will be in contact.

A normal day for an engineer will consist of dealing with the most advanced machinery, whilst problem solving and dealing with time constraints. Daily maintenance, reporting problems and doing a daily watch. there are case studies on our website that you may wish to read.
Some companies operate worldwide, and some only around the UK. If you do research into the companies, you will get more of an idea of where they work. Some people at sea work around Australia, visit the USA and even some Pacific Islands. So much variety.
Do careers at sea recruit for other companies
Unfortunately, we do not recruit. We are only an information site, but we can help you as much as you need. All the email addresses, and companies are on our website.
Okay, Thank you
