How to enter careers in Railways

Watch Topic

I have been interested in railways for years. Primary the engineering and mechanics side. I was wondering what employers will value more in this field?

Is it primarily whether or not you have a university degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, or will they value an apprenticeship in the field more? Or is it basically how interested in the career you are and the first impressions you give?

Thanks :)
